Our Services.
In addition to general pruning and removals here’s some more specific offereings. Please note HTC does not offer sprays, fertilizing or injections. I prune trees and talk about them- essentially.
Tree Preservation
Old, Very Old and Historic trees are viable and safe around homes and high traffic areas when we understand their needs and apply solutions to meet them. Fortunately - trees have been around a very long time so we have plenty of past experience to draw from when we design an approach.
To be very clear- we can offer practical and proven ways to keep your old, hollow, ancient, diseased, cracked, gnarled old trees with respect to the effort and time it took for them to get here.
Fruit Trees and Orchards
When the season suits the reason we’re all in on fruit tree pruning. Each Season provides an opportunity to prune when your purpose overlaps.
While more intensive fruit tree pruning happens from January to March- there’s often need for pruning throughout the growing season to support the work done in the dormant season.
There is a context to prune any day of the year- so never hesitate to reach out with a goal in mind or question.
Consulting
This is an option to share knowledge, and keep credentials busy without any pretext of hiring for services. It’s an opportunity to be heard and get some professional guidance. Examples may include canopy inspection (ground or aerial), Tree Risk Assessment, Tree Inventory, expert witness or just a write up of practical tools for basic property health.
Consultations are done by me, Jeremy Gray, an ISA Certified Arborist.
Rate for this service is $195/hr. Drivetime is billed for visits outside of Santa Fe. In an effort to make this accessible to all, please advise if your budget demands a lesser compensation for this service- I will work with you.
Ecologically Sound Approaches to Thinning
Our midslope Pinon and Juniper Forests are vulnerable ecosystems. If we must disturb them- let’s make a plan that gives honest consideration to how different approaches play out now and later.
Much of Santa Fe is situated among the Pinon and Juniper or Ponderosa forests; and in ‘Wildland Urban Interface’ areas. It is a privelage to haver a home situated within these unique ecosystems and with it comes unique risks and responsablilities.
Some of these are thinning for fuels reduction or to manage ‘Bark Beetle’ Infestations. Homeowners Insurance will often have it’s own requirements for ‘defensible space’. These protocols taken without deliberate and clear consideration to the impacts they will have on the forest can cause harm that is irreversible in our life time.
To be very clear- thinning can be supportive to the urban wildland interface or many forms of the opposite. Please be proactive in seeking wise solutions.
